Discuss risk before consent

Agree the follow-up plan
Dressings and a support bra may be used, and drains are sometimes required. Ask for a written plan covering incision care, showering, sleeping position and when lifting or exercise can resume. Swelling and shape settle at different rates, so an early photograph is not the final result. Before travel, agree who will check the wounds and how to obtain urgent assessment for a new concern.
