Planning recovery after ear correction
Dressings or protective headwear may be prescribed. Avoid unapproved pressure or trauma and follow the clinic’s instructions for sleep, glasses, headphones and sport. Ask when dressings are reviewed and what symptoms require earlier contact. The postoperative position should be assessed over healing rather than judged only immediately after bandage removal.
Prepare before the appointment
Discuss glasses, headphones, work headwear and sports so that postoperative pressure can be planned around. Bring previous operative details if this is a revision. Ask where incisions will be placed and what help is needed for dressings and early checks.

Risks include bleeding or hematoma, infection, scarring, contour irregularity, asymmetry, altered sensation and the need for revision. Sutures can create their own issues. Discuss scar history and ask how persistent discomfort, swelling or changes in ear position will be checked.
Interpreting the result as tissues settle
The operation cannot guarantee perfect matching, and small differences may remain. Cosmetic ear correction is not a treatment for hearing loss. Ask whether the desired degree of repositioning could create an unnatural contour or require trade-offs elsewhere on the ear.
