Aftercare depends on whether the treatment involves injections, needling, laser, a peel or a focal surgical method. Obtain instructions for each component. Leave enough time to assess healing and response before escalating treatment. Protect treated skin from sun exposure as directed and seek review for worsening pain, redness, drainage or a new persistent skin change.
Avoid paying for a mismatched procedure
Complete removal of every scar is not a realistic promise. Mixed scar patterns may need different treatments and staged assessment. Improvement in color does not necessarily correct a depression, while smoothing a scar may not normalize all surrounding pigment. Ask how improvement will be recorded using comparable lighting rather than relying on selected promotional photographs.
