Your previous filler, implants, surgery, infections and dental or skin treatment history may affect assessment. Explain any allergies and prior injection reactions. Ask the clinician to identify the product already present if treatment has been performed elsewhere and to explain the limits of assessing it from photographs. Suitability also depends on the anatomical site and the intended depth of placement.

Hyaluronic acid filler: Discuss the product and area, expected duration and what correction or dissolution would actually involve.
Other filler materials: Different materials have different behavior and removal options; ask for the exact substance rather than a generic filler label.
A non-filler approach: If laxity, muscle activity or skin disease explains the concern, a different assessment may be needed.
Discuss risk before consent
Swelling, bruising, tenderness, lumps, infection and delayed inflammation can occur. A rare but serious complication is filler entering or obstructing a blood vessel, which can damage skin and cause vision loss or stroke. Seek immediate medical attention for unusual pain, even if it is not severe; changes in vision; skin near the injection turning white, gray or blue; or stroke symptoms such as sudden difficulty speaking, facial drooping or weakness on one side. Do not wait for pain to become severe or for a routine online reply. Alert the treating clinician immediately if symptoms start during injection. After leaving the clinic, seek immediate local medical care; call local emergency services for vision changes or suspected stroke. Ask about the clinic’s emergency response before treatment.
Agree the follow-up plan
Obtain a record of the product and sites treated. Follow the clinician’s instructions for skin care and activity, and ask which degree of swelling or bruising is expected. An early appearance may reflect swelling rather than the settled contour. Keep access to prompt assessment after departure from Korea; urgent symptoms should not wait for a routine messaging reply.
